What is the Business Improvement Package and how can it help?
“In order to deliver the transformed services and value for money that communities want, councils will have to challenge traditional methods of delivery.” Local Government White Paper
This Business Improvement Package responds to a commitment set out in the Local Government White Paper to publish “an integrated package of improvement tools” covering effective use of business process improvement techniques, technology and collaboration.
The Business Improvement Package is a developing resource which brings together the key successful components of many transformation and customer service projects that local authorities are already at the heart of. It links with other existing national and regional sources of support and capacity building to provide:
- Practical resources which have been developed and tested by local government;
- Support for local authorities to get a clear understanding of their business including processes, transaction costs and customer preference - and how to improve them;
- Help in exploiting the opportunities from partnership working and shared service delivery;
- Enabling the sharing of ideas and learning, and capacity building in relevant approaches and techniques.
